‘Time Zone’, new sparks for the International Arts Festival

“Time Zone – on the Way of Possible Music” comes to its thirtieth edition and renews the proposal of search music from the most important international artistic scenes. A sound track in continuity with the history of the Barese Festival, where music is the main protagonist of an exhibition deliberately projected towards the interweaving of codes and languages. Countless and prestigious, they have been artists in over thirty years participating in the Kermesse Barese: from Sakamoto to David Sylvian, Lou Reed to Patti Smith through exhibitions, special projects, readings and installations and previews that have made the festival conceived by Gianluigi Trevisi a staple of the Apulian and international culture.

Preview of the 2017 season will be Time Zones Off, the usual warm-up appointment dedicated to the undergrowth of independent music and the new realities that are gaining the attention of industry media.
From 13th to 15th October, in the spaces of Pellicano in Bari, Turukù will perform in the class, where rock, rap and classical converge into pieces of fulmicotone, the Nocturnal Scene, a post-rock instrument band that blends dreamy atmospheres post-rock dilatations with math-rock rhythmic intersections, and Peekaboom, the duet with double bass, voice and live-looping Ableton.

The official show of Time Zones will animate the weekend on horseback between October and November, departing on Friday 20 in the “Even Cinema Royal” spaces. The protagonists of the evening will be two very interesting formations: the first are Saroos, coming from Berlin and Monaco “side-project” between electronics and post-rock after experiencing historical groups in the German scene such as Notwist and Lali Puna. Following, one of the leading exponents of minimalism, saxophonist and composer Jon Gibson, originally from the West Coast and transplanted to New York, where he became Philip Glass’s historic partner. Along with him on the stage there will be Britton Powell, composer and base performer in Brooklyn, whose work has been commissioned for performances all over the planet. The evening finale is instead entrusted to the project of sounds and images “Visions” by Luigi Morleo and Niccolò Mastrolonardo.

On Saturday, 21, Molfetta’s Eremo Club moves to one of the most anticipated concerts of the season, Alexander Hacke and Danielle De Picciotto. Entered as a guitarist and producer in the mythical Einstürzende Neubauten in 1980, in 2005 he released the solo album “Sanctuary”. In 2006 she married De Picciotto, an American multimedia artist transplanted to Berlin and a singer of Space Cowboys, also famous for creating the Love Parade. Time Zones will feature the album “Perseverantia”, released in May 2016. On the same evening Claudia Ferrari will perform, in the art Missy Jay, techno, minimal, tribal and funky artist. The artist travels the world by offering extremely engaging sets and has been living in Ibiza for years now.

On October 27, in the Auditorium Showville, another great event with well-known Jeff Mills, innovator, prophet and authentic techno legend. It’s an endless production, with some really epoch-making and unmissable dj-sets around the world. He has made dozens of transverse projects between the arts, ranging from science fiction to space, from afrofuturism to electronics and to true contamination. The one that will be presented exclusively in National Time Zones is the latest version of The Trip.

On Saturday, October 28, he returns to the Molfetta Hermitage Club with four performances: at 21.30 he starts with Mary Ocher, a Russian songwriter transplanted to Israel, whose stylistic figure consists of guitar, synth, and vocalizzi eterei. At 22.30 comes Bebawinigi, singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and actress, to rock, industrial and new wave. Next is Sun Yufka’s turn with a project that moves from tropical mountainous metropolitan markets, while the closing of the evening is for DJLag’s consul, recognized as the main pioneer of Gqom, the sound that joins Durban, London and Rome .

The windmills and the Zaanse parks in Holland

The windmills and the Zaanse parks in Holland
A trip to Holland is not complete without a visit to the windmills, one of the symbols of the country, so important that on 9 and 10 May was celebrated the National Day of the mill.

Zaandam is a town in the northeast of Amsterdam where you can visit Zaanse Schans an open air museum with a dozen windmills, 20 minutes by train from Centraal Station Amsterdan, at the Koog-Zaandijk station.

Once off the train, we tourists are welcomed by some guys that give us a map of the area and show us the path to reach the mills along about 1.5 km on foot.

In mid-journey we are immersed in an unusual odor, reminiscent of chocolate, not that intense that spreads to the kitchen when we prepare the hot chocolate, but very small, maybe it’s something else. I remain in doubt until we arrive in front of the ADM Cocoa, known chocolate factory, alas, can not be visited. Zaandam has always been an important industrial area and in the past, the region was home to more than a thousand mills, the oldest dating back to the first half of the fourteenth century.

A few hundred meters down the road, on the right, seen through the red roofs of the four blades of a windmill, a big x-shaped, each arm consisting of a grid, a shovel yes and a no covered with a tarp. The mill is attached to the house of the miller. The upper part of the mill is bell-shaped, at the top of the blades are mounted. The house and the lower part of the coated green wood mill water, the dark green fixtures.

We continue to follow the signs. We pass the modern bridge on the river Zaan Julianabrug and immerse ourselves in a fairytale landscape. Paths along narrow channels in the green, bordered by the colorful houses typical of various shades of green, yellow and white daffodils a bit ‘everywhere.
Now you are visited museums in the morning and early afternoon. Inside it includes the activity that was carried out there. Each mill had a specific function: grinding corn, or olives, or cocoa producing paper or mustard, cut stones.

Zaanse Schans in the park there is also a farm where you can see the working of the Dutch cheese, taste it and buy it. A shop of sweets and a workshop in which to observe the manufacture of klompen: traditional willow and poplar wooden clogs, still used by those who work in the fields.

A sanctuary in the lagoon. Polynesia, here is the most booked hotels in the world

The news of these days: the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora in French Polynesia (yes, the one where Jennifer Aniston spent the Honeymoon!) Received the largest number of reservation requests on TripAdvisor among hotels worldwide.
A dream come holiday. In addition, an icon dell’mmaginario. An archetype. The Four Seasons in Bora Bora. Then, the Four Season’s staff comes up to me with the classical and fragrant necklace welcome tiare flowers and takes me to the boat that, in about twenty minutes, leads me to the destination.
Sure, it’s not a destination for everyone. And not just because it is not affordable for all budgets. The journey is not easy: after the long trip from Papeete fact then you have to take a small plane to Bora Bora and then make a final stretch speedboat.
Then, however, the view is unforgettable. The resort – just past the headlines for the Moon of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux last summer Honey – lies on one of the longest and picturesque beaches on the island, is located in an idyllic location in the lagoon in front of Mount Otemanu, a volcano off. Surrounded by the embrace of a lush tropical vegetation contains within it a private lagoon, The Ruahatu Lagoon Sanctuary, with more than a hundred species of colorful fish. Dive in these waters is like swimming in an aquarium. We organize tours, also for children, with a marine biologist who gives lessons on how to graft a coral, feed the octopus and the Polynesian ecosystem.
